Juno: Explanations for Ferrara
Winner of the second Rome Film Festival and an Oscar for his screenplay, "Juno" has been very well received both public and critics. We see that the story of this sixteen year old who gets pregnant and decides to continue the pregnancy, and then entrust the baby to the couple that they consider most reliable, and involved the audience throughout the world. When the work in question was published in Italy, many critics have called it a masterpiece. While acknowledging the good quality of the film, all those positive reviews are exaggerated and exciting, because this play is so well shot, well scripted and well-interpreted, but not to cry out to the masterpiece. "Juno" is rather a very good film and is the best comedy this season, because it fails to address issues such as adolescence and the middle class American in an ironic and light but not superficial or sugar, as indeed was likely to do, given the demented comedy melodrama and saccharine products in recent years in the U.S.. The script is good, thanks to the dialogue well-written, but the real strength of the film is the talented and young star Ellen Page. Quest'interprete manages to personify and to "draw" his character with great originality and irony, but also with depth and tenderness. This comedy in Italy has become famous for idiotic statements by Giuliano Ferrara, who in all his interviews he said that "Juno" is a film against abortion and therefore useful for the campaign of the list "Abortion? No, thank you. " Anyone who has seen this work without being under the influence of drugs will realize that to Reitman, the director of the film, the topic of abortion is not interested at all and uses it only as an essential step to advance the rest of the plot. In addition, the protagonist repeatedly complains of heaviness of her pregnancy and in fact declares immediately after the birth does not want to know anything of him, you only need to be sure that is entrusted to the good people. More than just against abortion, this play is a tribute all'anticonformismo, so much so that everything in this film is unconventional: the protagonist, is very different from many of his peers prissy, nonconformist is his choice and his way to face a difficult situation such as pregnancy. In conclusion, "Juno" is a film that I recommend to everyone, as it is a pleasant comedy, ironic and profound, which is rare in today's cinema.
